Science writer wins 'fair comment' appeal -
Science, News - The Independent
Some sanity now prevails in the English Court of Appeal. This libel case concerned some common sense about chiropractic written by Simon Singh, perhaps best known for his book about Fermat's Last Theorem. He said that he didn't believe that chiropractic had any scientific basis but also described it as "bunkum" which the court at the lower level said could carry a defamatory meaning, or as the Independent said "The BCA alleged that Singh, in effect, had accused its leaders of knowingly supporting bogus treatments."
